Our Competitive team swims year round September - July. A tryout is required before registration. Please contacting the appropriate Coach below for more information about their group.


Developmental Stroke School

Our Stroke School is devoted to competitive stroke instruction with an emphasis on balance in the water through specialized drills. The program is for swimmer under 14 looking for a supplement for summer league.



Our Claude Moore Home School swim program is devoted to competitive stroke instruction through specialized drills. The program is convenient for families with homeschooled children and offers multiple days a week.

Jessica Fry-Mack

Head Coach - Senior Prep

Jessica Fry-Mack has been a coach with NCAP for several years and has recently taken over the role as Head Coach at Claude Moore. She has an extensive swimming background dating back to her local age group program in Michigan and then through high school, college and masters programs. Jessica is an extremely passionate coach and has over fifteen years of experience, working with summer league, high school, triathlon, Special Olympic and USA club teams in Michigan and the Northern Virginia area. Outside of her head coaching duties, Jessica will continue working primarily with the Senior Prep program, while helping with other groups as needed. Coach Jessica lives in Ashburn with her husband and sister and enjoys swimming, running, reading, movies, traveling and spending time with her friends and family.

Robbie Robins

Robbie Robins has been with the club since 2001. He started as an age group coach at the Tysons site and became head coach of the Claude Moore site when it opened in 2007. Prior to that he was an age group coach in Maryland. He stepped down from the Claude Moore head coach position in 2016 and now coaches the senior group only. He lettered as a varsity swimmer at Virginia Tech long before you needed to be fast to swim there.

Shannon McConagha

Shannon has been a lifelong swimmer, competing locally before attending The University of Mary Washington, where she continued swimming and became a valuable part of the team. She has several years of coaching experience, dating back to the existence of Solotar Swim Team, and has also been Head Coach of the ODSL Broadlands Piranhas for several years. Shannon coaches AG1-Select and will also begin coaching Senior Prep this season.

Casey Dawson

Casey Dawson graduated from South Lakes High School in 2010 and went on to study at The University of Mary Washington, earning a degree in Biology. She began competitive swimming at the age of 6 for RSTA Summer Swim League and then moved on to NCAP, continuing to swim through high school and college. She has over nine years of coaching experience, including club and summer league swim teams. Her passion for swimming and her love for the water have only grown stronger over the years and she is excited to share her love for the sport with our swimmers. Casey coaches AG1-Select, AG2 and Stroke School.

Stephen Clendenin

Age Group 3 & Stroke School

Stephen Clendenin has been a competitive swimmer since he was 9 years old. He has been swimming in Northern VA since 2001. He graduated from the University of Mary Washington in 2011 with a degree in English. During his college career, he was awarded the Capital Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Year for three consecutive years and he was Rookie of the Year his freshman year. He went undefeated in all his individual conference races, went to the NCAA Division III Championships all four years of college and is a six-time All-American athlete. After graduating college, he coaches at Saint Vincent College in western PA for two years, helping that team to two winning seasons. Stephen also competed in 8 different National-level meets post college, including Summer and Winter Nationals and the Arena Pro Swim Series. In 2015, he won the high point award at the Eastern Sectional Meet. Stephen is passionate about swimming; his goal as a coach is always to share that passion and to help his athletes find their own love of the sport. He loves coaching and has a lifelong commitment to being the best coach he can be. Besides swimming and coaching, Stephen loves spending time with his wife and daughter and drinking lots of coffee.

Tracy Endo

Tracy Endo is a mom of two, a full -time coach, and part-time photographer that lives in Sterling. She started coaching with NCAP in 2014 and is the owner of Tri Team Xcel - a coaching program for youth triathletes. As a mom, Coach Tracy has always enjoyed watching and helping her own children and young athletes succeed in sports. Although Tracy is a certified USA Swimming Coach, USA Triathlon Coach, USA Triathlon Youth & Juniors Coach, and USA Cycling Coach, her titles mean less than the success of just one of her athletes attaining their own personal goals!

Tim Whelan 

Age Group 1 PM, Age Group 5, Age Group 2, and High School Prep

Tim Whelan has been a coach with NCAP since the fall of 2015. He swam competitively in New Jersey and went on to swim at Rutgers University. He has been an age group, summer league and masters coach for several years. Tim coaches AG1-PM, AG5, AG2 and High School Prep.
