Amy Duellman is in her 22nd season with NCAP. She has developed many swimmers and teams in local summer and high school leagues for the past 28 years. Amy grew up locally and swam for Solotar Swim Team. In 1996, she graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in Education receiving the Outstanding Student Teacher Award. In 2000, she was recognized as Washington Post’s All Met High School Coach of the Year. She has experience coaching all levels of our Age Group program and produced many Zone and Sectional level swimmers. Amy is the Site Administrator for Tysons and coaches Senior Prep and AG1 AM & AG1 PM.

John Flanagan

John Flanagan has been coaching for more than 43 years at the USS Age Group, Senior, and Masters levels.  In addition he has coached Open Water and Collegiate level swimmers. He has been a National Team coach for the past 3 years and a National Junior Team coach for the past 6 years. He was named Swim Swam Coach of the Year (Age Group) in 2013. John was chosen for the Swimming World Championship Staff (1986,1994,1998), World Youth Staff (2013), World University Games Staff (2015). John coaches our Elite Senior Group at the Tysons YWCA, where he has produced many Olympic Trials and Junior Nationals Champion swimmers.

Marilyn Mangels

Marilyn Mangels has more than 40 years of experience coaching athletes in PVS beginner to elite Age Group swimmers. She has produced many Zone, Sectional and Junior National swimmers and has been named Potomac Valley Swimming Coach of the year. Marilyn coaches Senior Prep, AG1 AM & AG1 PM.

Jay Wareham

Age Group 2

Jay Wareham begins his second season with NCAP. He has 8 years of coaching experience in local summer leagues. Currently he coaches for Hunter Mill in the NVSL. He also coaches at Loudoun County High School. During his first two years at LCHS, the Raider Boys won two conference titles, a region runner-up, and have a pair of Top-10 finishes at Virginia 4A State Championships. Jay coaches AG 2 and assists Coach John with the Senior Group.

Kara McElveen

Age Group 3

Kara McElveen is in her 19th season with NCAP and has been coaching in local summer leagues since the late 90s. She is the Head Coach for the Great Falls Rapids summer swim team. She graduated from William and Mary in 1997 and received her master’s degree in education from George Washington University in 2001. In addition to coaching, she is a special education teacher at Dogwood Elementary in Fairfax County. Kara coaches AG 3.

Matt Lear

Age Group 4

Matt Lear joined our NCAP staff in 2015 working with AG2 and AG3 groups. This is his first season at Tysons. He has been coaching for summer league teams in the northern Virginia area since 2002. Matt grew up locally swimming for Solotar Swim Team and then for NCAP. He is also a middle school math teacher in Fairfax County Public Schools. Matt coaches Age Group 4 and also enjoys running and spending time with his wife and two children.

Kelly McCullough

High School Prep, AG 2, Stroke School

Coach Kelly Rose joined the NCAP coaching staff in September of 2018. She began coaching at the age of 16 for her local YMCA swim team in Spencer, Iowa. After graduating from the University of Northern Iowa in 2011 with a degree in Business Administration Management and Accounting, Coach Kelly Rose went to work for the Sioux Falls Snowfox Swim Team. During her four years with Snowfox, she served as the Head Age Group Coach and Administrative Assistant to the Board of Directors as well as serving as the Head Zones Coach and All-Star Coach for South Dakota Swimming. Coach Kelly Rose moved out to Northern Virginia in June of 2015 and began coaching with the FISH. She was the Head Mini FISH Coach for two years while also assisting with the other groups on the team. Coach Kelly Rose is currently the Head Coach for the Highlands Swim Team in the NVSL. Coach Kelly Rose coaches AG2 and High School Prep at Tyson's.
